Honoring the Life and Legacy of Ella Mae Brownlee

Ella Mae Brownlee lived a life beautifully defined by faith, family, and devoted service. A woman who accepted Christ at an early age, she gave decades of her life to the church, faithfully serving as a Pastor’s Aide member and president at Holy Stranger’s Home, and later as a Pastor’s Aide and Mother’s Board member—affectionately counted among “Pastor Miller’s Warriors”—at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. As a devoted wife to James D. Brownlee and loving mother to Kenneth, Patricia, Donald, and Lavonzell, Ella poured her heart into her family, while also building a career of more than 35 years at GE, where she formed lifelong friendships. Known for her strong faith, her discipline and hard work, and her intentional love for her family, Ella embraced her role as the matriarch with grace, style, and unwavering devotion. Her wisdom, warmth, and steadfast trust in God’s peace left a lasting impression on her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all who were blessed to call her family.

This memorial page serves as a tribute to Ella Mae Brownlee’s extraordinary life and the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
