Legacy of Malik Morale Thurman

Malik Morale Thurman was a remarkable young man whose life was defined by excellence, determination, and a deep love for his family. From an early age, Malik stood out as a natural leader—whether as a devoted big brother, a standout athlete, or a driven scholar. His accomplishments on the field and on the mat were matched by his character off of it. From making history at Proviso West to continuing his athletic and academic journey through college, Malik carried himself with strength, humility, and purpose. His passion for sports, travel, and new experiences reflected a life lived boldly and without limits.

This memorial page serves as a tribute to Malik’s extraordinary life and the legacy he leaves behind. His full obituary is shared here in remembrance of a son, brother, athlete, and friend who inspired so many. We invite you to sign the guest book at the bottom of this page to share your memories, words of comfort, and messages of love as we celebrate and honor the life of Malik Morale Thurman.

You made such an impact on many bro while not being a man of many words. It was a pleasure being able to play football with and against you. It was a pleasure playing baseball with you and against you. You never backed down, wasn’t scared of anything, and your work ethic and competitiveness was something I truly admired. Just know you left behind a legacy that’s truly worth remembering brother, much love!

It was a blessing to have known you Malik. You were a man of few words but great influence. Your presence was always felt, especially today as you graced us all with your loving spirit.

I met Malik on different occasions. One being my daughter wedding to his uncle and family gatherings. He smiled at things happening and briefly cracked a joke or two. But, I also saw a lot of humbleness, not talking, just viewing his surroundings. There’s alot that can be said, maybe at another time. Your family will always be a part of mine, no matter what. I’m praying for you all down here on earth. Malik is good. I’m praying for the peace that GOD will enstore in your heart sooner than later. Just know that Malik will be smiling down on all of you everyday.
Sending love your way.

Malik was a constant and consistent player, and gentleman, in our Western Springs Baptist basketball ministry for 9 years. He competed with competence and character at all times. He always honored God’s house and His people.

I didn’t really know Malik well, not like everyone here. We just would always see each other at the gym in melrose park and hoop.

Malik was on of the guys that during a bad time in my life, spoke kind words to me, that I didn’t even realize I needed to hear. Him and a few other guys.
During that time I began to smoke weed, and Malik was one of the people that reminded me that I was better than this, in his own competitive way. I may not remember the exact words, but I remember him being someone that encouraged me to stop using drugs.

I’m thankful for Malik, and pray for his family during this time, that the pain of a lost of such a great man, that the you all allow the Lord to comfort you. May his memories live on in you all.
In Jesus name.

God bless
